Sunday’s Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon, which took place March 6 in Napa California, welcomed Pottstown, Pennsylvania residents and newlyweds, Kimberlea and Gregg Heimer who kicked off their Honeymoon by running 26.2 miles! Long time runners, the two had met in 2009 online. Gregg, a network engineer at his local community college and Kimberlea, a reading interventionist lost track for five years, but two years ago they rekindled their friendship, marrying last month in Lake Placid, NY.
The Marathon takes place along the beautiful Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley, from Calistoga, south to the finish line at Vintage High School in Napa, California. After days of rain, the morning of the Marathon dawned clear and a beautiful sunrise welcomed them at the 7 am Start Line of the race. As they crossed the Finish Line, about three hours later, Gregg swept Kimberlea into his arms and carried her across the Finish Line, a fitting start to a life of love and running! They continue to honeymoon in the Town of Yountville, famous for being the home of the renowned French Laundry Restaurant. The Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon wishes them a long and happy run together!
